Hi,

Be very careful with the black cables (speedo and rev). You are very lucky to have those.
Same for the aluminium front fender ! Both possible brittle, but unique parts, only for the early bikes (61 and early 62).

assembly of Japanese motorcycles requires great peace of mind (Pirsig)

I see what you describe very often.
Actually I would like to see under the oil filter and clutch.
I offer that clutch which I machine and make ready for a good ride. ................lm

Luckily it was not run with misaligned parts or wrongly fitted parts. The original crank that was in there had two different can rods - one with a slit and the other two holes in the crown of the little end for oiling.

I got hold of a shift shaft but the arm (24711-268-030) is in a sorry state as you can imagine.

Is this the view you want?

Where do I shop for the clutch?

Here you go LM. The engine is now split so if you need to see a particular feature you will have to let me know and I will take some new pictures.

How much for the clutch please. I have not yet measured or checked the original plates so may have to spend more anyway :-(

Almost getting near selling the children (at 31 and 26 they get most upset by this)

Thank you again.
This case has the early lower case.
The issue without the Primary Chain Tensioner.
I recommend you install the issue with the tensioner as it was installed to lessen the chain whip.
Any of the later cases will install perfectly. ...............lm

Lower engine case damage

Post by CeeBee72 » Wed Aug 31, 2016 2:08 am

I have had a go at soda blasting the lower crank case only to reveal more destruction. I am guessing this is more damage from earlier attempts to work on this engine. It may explain why the alternator was covered in oil as it probably acted as a crankcase pressure vent. Another case for JB Weld?

That is the reason oil was there.
Did you read my above statement?. ..............lm

Hi LM. yes I did but I have not been able to locate one along with the tensioner gubbins so I have to go with what I have.
