Please give a brief description of what you are attempting to cure.
For sure those wires have been changed.
Look for any loose connections and if the horn and lights (including speedo) work then start checking every other connection for tightness and compare the colors to the wiring diagram.
Any metal part which attaches to another part may be suspect whether it needs to be grounded (metal to metal contact) to the part it is attached to.
Use a VOM to check that the parts have continuity...........lm

The aqua green is the horn wire, the light brown is the high beam, the dark blue is low beam, the is the ground. I have tried flip flopping some of these wires around and it made the headlight and horn not work, correctly so I presume that looking at the handle bar switch at the contact pads inside I have the right combination.

The high beam (light brown) is Y soldered in with the high beam bulb indicator so they both turn on at the same time.

You can see me holding a loose bundle of cables in the back of the bucket, these are coming from the switch.

In this second picture, you can see the aqua green wire from the handlebar switch going into one of the horn connectors, and the other side of the horn going out into the 12v black live wire.

deafanddiabetic wrote: I also have a mystery black wire that's been there since the beginning that I cannot figure out. Coming off of the main wiring harness (which is stock, I can read the label still left on it) it comes off in a pair of black wires right next to the horn on the right hand side near the headstock. One of those wires I'm using to go into the horn, the other side of the horn goes into the handlebar switch.

There is 12v power in that black wire, what could it be for?
DD,

You definitely have your horn wiring jacked up. Those 2 short black wires coming off your harness are for the horn. Two short wires with male bullet ends from the horn are supposed to connect to them. Only one of those two black wires is supposed to be a hot wire that powers the horn. Do me a favor and disconnect the aqua green wire plugged into your horn from your left handlebar switch and the one black harness wire connected to the horn. Turn on your ignition switch and check the 2 black wires and the aqua green wire for power and tell me what you find.

DD,

Here is a close-up of an uncut Dream harness and horn. You can see where the 2 horn wires connect to the harness. The single black wire with the female connector to the far left is what the horn button wire from the left handlebar switch is supposed to connect to in the headlight bucket. **Do you have anything connected to this female connection? If you do what is plugged in there and if so repeat the test I asked with this disconnected and tell me the results.**

DD,

The green double female coming off the switch is the headlight lead that sends power to the left handlebar headlight switch and powers the dash bulb. The black wire with the white band powers the neutral light.

There are no aquamarine colored wires in the harness. They are green wires that are discolored.
