Candy Orange CL77

Post by david lucas » Wed Feb 02, 2011 10:56 am

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to the forum, but have really enjoyed it for the last couple months. I have been restoring a candy orange cl77 for the last 2 1/2 years and getting very close to being finished. My goal is Spring 2011. I have spent countless hours on the internet researching this bike and have yet to see a single picture of a candy orange cl77. I'm ready to paint mine and since no one knows where to get the exact color match , I would love to see someone's bike pictures to see how close mine will be. I'll be glad to provide mi cell # if that makes it easier to send pics.
Thanks,
David Lucas

Thanks Dana and Dgormley for the welcome, with the info I did find the $ 22,700 ebay sale and picture. Has my curosity wondering if the rairity of the candy orange had anything to do with the price.

fyi if you just want to get close to the color and not spend a ton of money painting, Duplicolor makes a "Metal Specks" line in a rattle can that has a color very close to a candy orange or a sunrise orange its called Burnt Copper. Use a silver chrome base and a few clears and its really not half bad for a $40 paint job. This is a guys bike from SOHC forums.

Ahhh ... I have a '76 CB-550F in boxes (complete). Been debating what to do with it.

David,

I had a Candy Burnt Orange CL77 I bought from the original owner several years ago. I sold it to a fella in W. VA about 5 years ago. I have new silver tinsel welt that went around the top of the seat if you need it. I sent some to a fellow down in MO for his seat and he said it worked out great. I saw a restored orange candy CL77 at Mid Ohio a while back. I think it was Doug Swick's bike. Try reaching him through the VJMC as he still might have the paint formula. The color looked really good to me.

Good Luck- HT
