CL72 Chrome

Post by splitenz » Thu Feb 07, 2008 7:35 pm

I was wondering how rare a CL72 with chrome is? Side Covers, fenders, rear shock covers are all chrome but I have yet to find a picture of one like this. I am thinking that it needs to be kept exactly like this but finding replacement covers may be quite a chore, the ones it came with have seen better days. Anyone know how many may have been made like this?

NON!!!!. There are/were many of the CL72 bikes that had all the parts you mention chromed after purchase.
A little tough for the fenders as the CL72 came with aluminum finders. The bike dealers and other shops sold lots of chrome parts for them to folks who wanted their bike to be better/different than others. I had a 1962 CL72 with badges that showed "HONDA DREAM 250" and I made and installed polished aluminum parts to replace them. "MY BIKE WAS A SCRAMBLER NOT A DREAM"! Now if I could only go to the dump and find those DREAM badges!!!!!!!!!!!!!. ...........lm

You're welcome. I try to share what I've learned since 1963/66 when I owned my first and 2nd HONDA CL72's. ..................lm
