front fork internal shield
front fork internal shieldHi. Wondering if any of you guys knows what sort of material is used to make the thin shield that fits between the spring and the front fork leg on the later type forks. Looks to be a thick paper but surely not?. Is it to stop noise or reduce wear? Thanks. Ian
Re: front fork internal shieldHi Ian
It's made out of a sort of plasticised paper, I believe. It's there to stop th espring rubbing on the leg, maybe to stop wear and noise. I think Terry Silvia on this site made some reproductions out of plastic card. There were pictures. G

I found a plastic file folder to be best. I used the crease in the bottom of the folder for the bent over tabs. I have the measurements if you need them.
