CA77 engine parts wanted

Post by Geoff Hastings » Wed Oct 31, 2018 12:06 pm

Hi guys, I'm currently building a spare engine with the aim of swapping my existing engine over, possibly over the winter. I'm short of a few parts, basically, everything under the left side casing. Clutch, tensioner, oil spinner, primary chain etc. I don't need the gear selector mechanism but do need a gear change return spring so if anybody UK based can help me with any of these parts I'd appreciate the help.

Hello Geoff

If the parts are the same as CB72, I will probably have some used stuff if you cant find anything closer to home.

Thanks guys, I have some parts currently being sourced for me so will get back to you when I know what I am still short of. Just for info, I sent a photo of my engine to show what I'm missing and later, looking back at the photo I noticed a gap round the main bearing. When I put the engine together with the new main bearing I did not notice the bearing was not the right size. The bearing David Silver had sent me was 75mm od and not 77mm od. Being in genuine original Honda box and packaging I made the mistake of assuming it was the right bearing. If I'd had all the parts I'd have carried on and put it in the frame and started it up. I'm annoyed at myself for not spotting this before so I've got to pull the engine apart again but at least no damage done.

Geoff

The 75mm bearing is for early engines. Part 91001-259-010

It changed to 77mm in 1962. Part 91001-259-020

The 77mm one is quite difficult to find. It supercedes to a Honda CB360 (369) part. 91001-369-000

Thanks for the info Graham, DS ordered this bearing from America as they had none in uk stock. I assume they will take it back. I remember Loud Mouse deriding someone for making bearing adaptors saying, just fit the right parts. Sometimes it not that easy!
