CB77 starter issue
CB77 starter issueI have an intermittent issue with my start button/starter on my cb77. For some reason the button is finding ground when the button is not pressed and the only way to stop the starter from is to disconnect the battery. Taking the key out of position 1 doesn’t stop the starter either. I checked the switch itself, the wire from the switch to the bucket but can’t find the short. Any help would be appreciated.

Starter issueHi seadog, where is the starter relay located and can I fix it? Funny you should ask about reconnecting the terminal. When I attempt to reconnect the negative terminal I get a strong arc across the terminal with the screw. Needless to say I cannot reconnect. Last time this happened I took the switch off the bike. I atttempted the reconnect just yesterday again. At first it was ok but then the second time I pressed the start button it locked in.

Starter issueI disconnected the start button from the switch itself and also disconnected the bullet in the headlight bucket for the yellow/red wire to rule out that section of wire. However, when I tried to reconnect the negative lead to the battery terminal, I got a arc and the starter turned on. This is all with the ignition turned off. Any ideas other than the stuck relay?
