Superb, I'd say. Quite a transformation. :-)

What did you use on the floats?

The solution I use cleans the brass parts but leaves them with a dark coating.

I have tried all sorts of stuff but I cannot get mine looking like yours.

The adhesive/sealer that Honda used is elusive. It seems resistant to almost anything. Would love to find some.

If both carb bodies show CL77 on the mount then you have 1 first issue CL77 and 1 last issue CL77 carb.
Not a true set. ..............lm

Thanks, G. For the floats, I used a product called "Twinkle Brass & Copper Cleaner". It's a soft paste. I dampen the float, then gently, gently rub a small amount of the paste on them, then keep rubbing with my thumb and forefinger until each stain has disappeared. Afterward, I wash them thoroughly in warm soapy water and an old toothbrush. I'd say that it takes 15 - 20 minutes per float.

Yes, they're both labeled CL77A. I know they're not true set and I know that a real purist would cringe at my using them, but I have nothing else. Carbs are hard to find and quite expensive and I can use the money elsewhere on this bike. If someone wants to trade, I'll give both cleaned carbs and the 2 spare carb bodies & bowls that I have for a good set of square bowl CB77 carbs. The spare carbs are just in ok shape - one has a lot of corrosion/pitting on the underside and both have corroded bowls. Pics on request.

An update is in order. Thanks to Loud Mouse, the head, pistons/cylinders and transmission are all sorted out and ready for installation. I'll be calling the media blaster tomorrow to see about getting the crankcase cleaned up and then reassembly of the engine can begin. That should be fun. I've been working on other bits until then. Today, I was looking at the front wheel and saw that the front brake panel is rather chewed up around the axle hole. I can't imagine what could have caused that damage. Opinions, please, on whether I should replace it.
