Find a sharp pointed something and go to the outer edge and tap through the rubber near the outer edge and pray out. .............lm

I may be wrong but I think that is what I recommended. .................lm

You are correct as usual LM, that should work.

The seal HONDA used is the 32/65/6.5.
Not to worry about the tab as it was to hold the seal in place with the upper case until the lower case waas installed. .................lm

Also after using an exacto knife around the entire edge still stuck in there good. Going to be a slow process of digging it out. looks like who ever installed it used sealant on both the inside and outside lip causing it to crumble at the slightest yank or pry......

Here are some pictures after spending three hours today trying to pry the rubber bits out. Only thing small enough to fit between the metal is an exacto knife. (Ruined a pair of fine nose tweezers, a pick set wont fit, small flat head isn't long enough, and various other sharp pointed things arnt strong enough and bend / break.) Heat gun also seems to have no effect on the rubber with making it more pliable or easier to get out.

And for some reason, the gap seems way smaller than the replacement seal? Is this standard or will I have to look into countersunk drilling options?

After reading quite a few threads on seal removals, I havn't see much trouble getting the seal out its more getting the seal in.

Any other options before I start looking for a mechanic to send the bike off to?

Thanks! -Geoff

You need to punch through the seal on it's face maybe a couple of mm from the outer edge and lever it out using the ally case as a fulcrum, as lm told you. You should never insert anything down the edge of the seal.
I fear you may have damaged the seat the seal fits into the way you have been doing it.
Good luck with it.

Use a sharp blade (EXACTO) to cut the outer edge at a angle then tap the new seal into the case going circular with the tool. ..................lm

Thank you for all your help and responses, trying to make a picture from text and is difficult.

Cross section of a standard seal installed. // Outer edge being top of the rubber or edge of the lip? https://imgur.com/lhxdSoN

https://imgur.com/P9gOcIX

After removing the outer section the inner seal remains (looks glued / oil saturated).

"Cut the outer edge at an angle," do you mean like this (see link below)?

https://imgur.com/kHT7x3T

I have been cutting along the long edge around the aluminum which doesn't seem to free up the rubber. If I cut at an angle then tap the new seal in (see below picture), where does the old rubber go?

Thanks for being a big help with this. -Geoff
