CB72 Found dismantled in boxes. All for saleCB72 Found dismantled in boxes. All for saleHello everybody, I'm living in Ireland. Whilst clearing out my late father's storage shed, i knew there were boxes of parts to build a CB72 somewhere under all the junk. The collection is by no means complete but having liberated the treasure and read your forum i can see there is a lot of stuff you guys are looking for.
At the moment i don't know the year of the bike or what documentation is remaining. The whole lot has been in storage for about 30 years (he had a notion to go classic racing one day). At this weekend i want to spread the whole lot out and take a ton of photos and post them up on here for you. The stuff i've seen so far is all original but in need of TLC and refurbishing. The engine is split and in bits. Gearbox same. The frame is straight and had been powder coated as has the swing arm. There are two complete Honda exhausts (downpipes and silencers in the the original boxes) which are solid but will need lots of polishing or re-chroming as they've been in a damp shed for 30 years. The tank is black and chrome, solid and has knee rubbers and original circular badges (saying Dream 250 under the Honda wing). Tons of other parts, hangers, bars, side panels headlight housing etc etc. So, i'm gonna be visiting relatives in the UK at the end of January and could load the whole lot in the car and bring it over with me if anyone is interested. Or various parts can be posted to whoever wants them (mind you, the postage would be steep for the heavy stuff) I've never sold anything on ebay so i'm reluctant to go down that route and would prefer to sell to you, the real guys who build and ride the Superhawk. I'm a born and bred biker and am currently completely rebuilding a 2001 XJR1300 Kenny Roberts. I hope this lot is of interest and may be of help to some of you. Thanks, Colm. Hi Colm,
I am always looking for spares as my hobby is saving cb72's and 77's from a rusty hell. I would like to see what you've got and will make a fair offer if that's ok. I live 15 mins from the ferry terminal in Birkenhead so if you accept my offer it would be easy to do the deal, if you want you could come to my place and have a cuppa to set you on your way. Cheers Al.
cb72 parts.Hi Colm, I have sent you a pm.
Cheers Al. Thanks for your replies.
So it turns out to be '63. (engine number CB72E 312163). I think it's a UK bike (we lived in Hertfordshire) Reg Number is 4728 KM. I've dug some parts out and taken photos (clocks, headlight housing, side panel, top yoke etc. There are some genuine parts that were purchased in the mid 80's such as the exhausts that are in much better condition than i thought (some surface rust on the top of the headers and just a few small marks on the silencers, no dents). A brand new headlight, a pair of air filters, rubber connecting pipes and one piston with rings (all boxed) I'll try to upload photos now so you can see condition and give ye an idea of whether they might be worth anything to you. Colm. Post edited: I had two digits in engine number wrong way round. It's now correct
