Piston Ring Set with 8 Rings

Post by Phil-UK » Thu Nov 09, 2017 3:35 am

Hi

Bought a set of Piston Rings to go on a pair of +0.50 CB72 Pistons ( 13105-268-010 ) that are marked "CB72 1364 S2" but the box has 8 rings in rather than 6.

2 x Oil Control Rings thickness = 2.78-2.79mm
4 x Stepped Rings thickness = 1.485-1.495mm
( light grey edges and black top/bottom surfaces )
2 x Plain Rings thickness = 1.465-1.470mm
( light grey edges and black top/bottom surfaces )

Does anyone recognise the "1364" reference, is it meant to cover a number of pistons ?
I know in Bill Silver's book he mentions some early Dream pistons had 4 rings but that was an extra Oil Control ring per piston.

My copy of the Shop Manual doesn't list a Piston with Ring Grooves that match, but again I am aware thee were changes.

cheers

Phil

Phil

The Dream (and CB72) 4-ring pistons have only one oil control ring at the bottom of the Piston.

I'm interested if you want to part with that set. They are also (the upper rings) are also thicker, I think.
