Apex rims

Post by cknight » Mon Jan 14, 2008 8:16 am

Obtained a CB72/77 front rim from Apex about a year ago. Holes for spoke nipples were too small, and drilled at the wrong angles. Perhaps it was intended for a CB160 configuration. Used carbide burr to re-do the holes, then had to have it rechromed. Also had the large late model DOT-type stampings on the side flanges.

yeah, it seems like for the extra 90 bucks or so, might as well keep the original rims. Vince, thanks for that tip in Toronto...www.customchromeplating.ca quoted me $100/rim over the phone. Seems a bit too good to be true. I'll go up in person and check it out.

Glad that lead might prove worthwhile. I've been so out of the Toronto loop I don't know who's there anymore. I know McBride's is gone, CycleWorld, Ontario Honda, Leitner & Bush, Zdeno, etc etc.

Who is left??????

Snow City Cycle is pretty much it.....everybody's gone under because of insurance rates apparently. The guy I bought my Superhawk from was 19, and his insurance was going to be $5,000/year or something outrageous like that.

John -- I tried replying to your PM a few times, but I don't know if any of them went through. In reference to the Hagon shocks, try either Dave Quinn Motorcycles in Connecticut (I think he's at www.davequinnmotorcycles.com ) or British Cycle Supply in Wolfville, NS ( www.britcycle.com ). Just make sure you get the ones with the 'tuning fork' lower mount, as Hagon makes a couple of different black and chrome shrouded shocks.

E-Mail me if you need to....
