CA77 primary chain

Post by oldbikedude » Mon Sep 25, 2017 6:02 pm

Hello folks, is the primary chain on my 67 CA77 suppose to have rollers on the pins? I have been working on rebuilding the engine & the original chain (it's been in my garage in boxes for 20 or so years) doesn't act like it has rollers over pins. They don't roll when I try to spin them. I know the easy answer is to buy a new chain but everything on this bike is in really great condition and I'd like to use it if I can. I did try to clean it in light oil in my ultra sonic cleaner.

Your chain is as it should be. There are no rollers.

Thanks Tim. Seems like it should have rollers, but I'm glad the one I have is ok.
