I can now statrt the search for all of the other parts that I carefully put away ready for the build. I used and old wheel to help me get her in the shed but, at least, the matching engine and frame are together again.

More tomorrow - hopefully wheel building.

Ha !

I thought you would be the only one to notice that, LM.

I couldn't get the oil pump to seat nicely with it on. More investigation needed. Pretty sure this was the pump and filter that belongs to the engine but I might have some mismatched parts.

Question.
Are you using the short filter or the later issue which allows MORE oil to the pump?. .................lm

Good question. I'll check through th evarious parts I have. It looks like it only needs 3mm or so but I didn't want to force it.

The very early engines have a screen filter on the pump which didn't fit aginst the case at the top so HONDA placed a phenolic/plastic spacer there. (you can see the spacer on the grass)
The design change has a taller screen to allow more oil to the pump so there isn't room/need for the spacer. .....................lm

Many thanks - LM

I managed to locate an early filter screen and a later (030) one.

Interesting that the manual shows the 'receiver' with the wide end at the top while my engine had it the other way up.

Do you know which is correct?
