Oil Pump Question

Post by bweed2112 » Tue Feb 21, 2017 9:53 am

As i am looking at everything, and finding things online, i feel like i need to take the oil pump off the motor and do some maintenance (reason being its been sitting for awhile and i want to try and take care of as many things as i can now, before i finish my "restore")
I just finished watching a video where the guy mentioned he thought the oil pump gear connects with the timing chain, i just wanted to get confirmation on this before i take it off the motor.

Any other thoughts or suggestions before doing this? I believe i already have the gaskets i need (bought a gasket kit for the motor awhile back and looking at the manual it looks like they are included)

It's not chain driven, it meshes with a gear on the crankshaft. You can pull out the 6mm bolts around the edge(plus the lower motor mount bolt on the scrambler) and remove it without disturbing anything else.
