Original Blue Paint on CL72
Original Blue Paint on CL72I have a '63 CL72 that was dark blue but then over-painted with black. I also have a set of NOS fork-ears in blue that are still wrapped in HONDA paper. They are a very close match to the bits of paint that are exposed on the bike. I plan to restore the bike in blue. Anyone have a paint code for an exact match?...............and what color (if any) to use for primer?
Also; would the seat pan be blue? I have physically seen 2 or 3 restored CL72s in blue........not a match to what I have. I have also seen pictures of a few in blue of which one in Texas looks to be a match.
Re: Original Blue Paint on CL72I use DuPont Centari acrylic enamel 63203 A CC: Centari 5.0 SS Alt:1. with hardner. I matched this color from a NOS rear shock cover. If you need complete code by weight I have that too. Just PM me. I use epoxy primer any color.
Yes, blue seat pan. Tim
Re: Original Blue Paint on CL72NO CL72 SEAT PANS WERE EVER BLUE. ................lm
Re: Original Blue Paint on CL72Yes they did have blue pans. I have seen them and both my blue cl72's have them. Seeing original blue pans is good enough for me. I guess you think red frames didn't have red pans as well. Lol.

Re: Original Blue Paint on CL72Yes they do have RED pans on the CL72 bikes issued from JAPAN.
I also have seen BLUE (I must say repainted) pans on the CL72 and that doesn't count. I suppose all the BLUE CL72 pans had BLUE cover (all of them must have searched you out) same as the CB77 cover was on the CB77's. Lets all look for a RED CB77 seat now. ......................lm
Re: Original Blue Paint on CL72I purchase a blue bike from original owner and he said the blue seat pan came on the bike.
Why are you rambling about CB seats anyway? Those pans all came black. Tim quote="LOUD MOUSE"]Yes they do have RED pans on the CL72 bikes issued from JAPAN. Re: Original Blue Paint on CL72Answer to your own question Tim. BLUE CB77 pan with BLUE cover!
Are you sure all black? Gee I suppose I'll need to ignore the Blue ones (CB77) I've seen for the same reason you reason with yours. OWNER" "That's the way I bought it!".......................lm [/quote]
