CL 72/77 front fender

Post by thepunisher2007 » Sat Jan 14, 2017 3:46 pm

Hi there. I'm struggling to find a decent front fender over here in the UK. I need the fender and bracket as i don't really want to go down the route of having to modify something else if i can help it. it doesn't have to be perfect and I'm happy to get one from the US but id be lying if i said i didn't want to spend silly money and postage can sting alittle from abroad

Cheers
Mike

Mike

I think I sold my last spare last year. But I'll have a look. The stuff is out there but you have to be patient. D&K Spares and Guvenor's Bridge are your best bets.

Are you looking for the early (8 mounting holes) or late (6 mounting holes) version. They changed with the upgrade from steel fork lowers to aluminium.

I got a NOS fender blade from David Silver about five years ago but finding one like that would be a miracle now.

This might be interesting for you.

I didn't realize there was 2 different types so that's good information. Whats the difference as iv never seen them labeled as early or late on listings.(would one actually fit on the others fork mount? point) I'm using the early style forks and wheels. There seems to be a couple on ebay but there around $200 + for just the blade. The only mount iv found was $500. Now as much as id like one that sort of money is just silly.

Thanks for pointing me at that thread iv put notifications on to keep me updated on it.

I'v used DK before but not heard of the other one ill check that out. I'm also going to an auto jumble at the end of the month so hoping something might crop up there however unlikely you never know.

If you have the early forks with small hubs you need the 8-hole type.

This week a seller on eBay listed 4 NOS fender blades.
All 6 hole I guess, also chrome.

I got my NOS blade on eBay and a NOS fender bracket from a Japanese guy I contacted after searching google.

I'm in Belgium so ended up paying lots off custom charges for both... Part of the game unfortunately.

$500 seems to be the price these days for a blade or bracket... Sellers know what they have in hand and know it will sell.

yeah i saw those but it's possible to make one from scratch and have it chromed for a lot less that there asking. there's also one on there used for $75 all be it cut down and with light rust.
$500 might be what there listed at but i can't imaging anyone with any sense would actually buy them.
i'm not after nos just one i can renew/restore or take patern from.
