winter storage

Post by shotzinky » Fri Dec 07, 2007 8:56 pm

Hello,

Well, it is rainy as hell in Portland, OR and I am going to put the bike away for a while. I have only had my Superhawk since July, so I do not know how to store it for the winter. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million.

Brian, a battery maintainer on the battery, after removing it from the bike is a good start. I don't know how cold and damp it is where you store it, but engine fogging oil may not be a bad idea either.A thorough clean and wax, and polish of the chrome should keep things loking nice. Fuel stabilizer in the fuel tank, and run it for a few minutes to let it get into the carbs as well. I'd probably drain the float bowls as well, just run the bike untill it dies, the put a rag on top of engine after it cools off, and loosen drain plugs on float bowls. That's all I can think of right now. Here in Cali we don't put them away for winter.
