Re-Starting my '65 CL77 Project :)

Post by rideordie » Wed Oct 12, 2016 1:09 pm

After quite some time and an annoying 2-stroke rebuild that I have recently completed and sold, my CL77 is back to the top of the list with money in my pocket :)

I have the entire bike stripped down and before setting it on the shelf, I went through the engine and did a 4th-over bore on the cylinders, have new piston kit, new valves, some new bearings, and of course new gaskets and seals.

My question to you guys is what other parts should I purchase for the engine before rebuilding the engine? Since I have new valves, would it be beneficial to get new valve guides as well? Any and all recommendations welcome, thanks in advance :)

Also, I want to run mikuni carbs as well but from what I have read, seems like they don't agree with the 305 engine very well. Is anybody running mikuni's or other aftermarket carbs? Thanks!

Everything appears to be in pretty good shape. The engine I'm rebuilding was frozen but aside from that, things are just old and seem to look like they just need a good soak in a parts washer.
