Seem to remember from the 60s red was for the UK/ Canadian market and blue was for the US simple as that but I could be wrong.

As for the CB77 the early issue was RED and apx. 1966 were changed to BLUE
Same for the CL72. RED. .................lm

Neutral Light colour.

I don't think the parts book details a specific frame number for the change of neutral light colour. (color)

However I have a theory that the change came about at the same time as the High Beam warning light was fitted to the speedometers, numbers for this are detailed in the parts book as the actual instruments are different so carry different part numbers.

My view is that Honda or the US Regulators wouldn't want two RED warning lights for different functions on the same bike so changed the neutral light to BLUE.

Makes sense to me.

Other colours (green ? white?) may exist too but I've never seen one.

I have a 66’ cb77 and the colour is blue which aligns with LM.

You re reasoning about the the change to avoid having two red lights on the same bike makes sense to me.

I got hold of some material and made new lenses. The threads changed on the bezel at some time, too.

It's in the parts book.
I forget to say the plastic of both colors was DOMED not FLAT.
FLAT was used on others such as the CB-350 and others.
HONDA added the high beam in the speedo around late 1962, early 1963 and the RED in the headlight to CB77-102661 then BLUE to CB77-109775 and CB77-400001 to completion. ...................lm.
