Ignition switch

Hi Guys
Just discovered your forum and my first post!
I have a CL72 that I have ridden since the 1980's, it has never had an ignition switch, just a toggle switch under the RH cover. Lately I have been tying to get some parts together to bring it back to it's former glory.
I note from the parts book that the ingition switch, retainer and ratchet changed at frame number CL72 10010454 and this is mentioned in "News no" F/033.
Can anyone tell me if I can fit the later switch assy to my bike (one on ebay recently from Thailand went for $138 + !!), If not why not ?
Are the earlier units any easier to come by???.
Are they all the same sort of design, with the bolt on flange attachment to the frame?
Does anyone have a copy of News no F/033 to see what it has to say?

Ya caught my eye with the extra digit in the frame number but the actual one is CL72-1001045. Now the reason you can't use the later switch is that your frame has a round hole for the switch and the outer area of that frame is round also. Your switch is held to the frame with a large/thin nut and as I'm sure you have a parts book you will see that the new issue has a retainer that requires 2 screws to hold it and the switch to the frame. I can see if I have a switch with key if you like. ...........lm

Yes woops sorry an extra "5" .
This is interesting as my bike frame does have the flange shape to the ignition switch mount + some other welded on bits from previous attempts to keep the side cover on without the correct retainer! Having another look though they could be a later modification to. I have attached a picture maybe you can tell me if it looks incorrect ! The pop rivets are through the flange holes and the large bolt has a cupboard knob currently keeping the side cover on. I have a simple toggle switch under the cover for ingition. The hole in the side cover is 24.5mm and this would be the best indicator of the switch type I need. Do you know the hole size used on the early and later models?

Me again ! You may be interested in my frame number it is CL72 1000235 this puts the bike in the same year but supposedly before the switch modification.
