Coil Wiring Dilema

Post by Seadog » Tue May 31, 2016 11:15 am

Please see the photo, below. I'm wiring in an electronic ignition and am perplexed by the wiring I find at the coils. My wiring diagram shows the coil for the left spark plug with a green neg. wire and the coil for the right getting a yellow neg. wire. I find just the opposite.

Could someone please tell me what's wrong with this picture? My little grey cells are on vacation.

Take a look at the points and look to see if the wires are swapped at the points also. .............lm

Thanks, LM. Yes, they're switched at the points too - green/right, yellow/left.

Thanks again, LM. I'm leaving the points and condenser in place and reusing the short connectors to each coil to connect to the electronic ignition control box. If ever the points are put back into use, there won't be any confusion about wire color if I leave the short connector wires as they were.

I think what you want to do should be OK as in the future this comes about the person will know other things aren't as HONDA built the bike.
Go for it. ...............lm

I agree; any changes should be obvious and reversible. Thanks again.
