Steering Head Damper Know

I just started the process of disassembly on a 1965 CA77, and not wanting to brake the old damper know, as it is in good shape, does it screw off or is it pressed on? At any rate is is very tight, so before I force it I will ask.

It is threaded on.

Mine was pretty tight and it took some significant impact to beak it loose.

The plastic knob unscrews.
