CB77 turn signals

Post by philrock » Thu May 12, 2016 11:05 am

I'm putting turn signals on my 1966 CB77. For the rear, this means 4 wires going to the taillight area instead of 2. I had a really hard time pulling just 2 wires through the passage in the fender. I can't imagine how to get 4 wires through it. Any ideas?

Am I assuming correctly that you're going to mount the signals on the license plate bracket? Consider mounting them on the tops of your shocks. Wiring is a lot simpler and there are brackets for that purpose. Photos if you need them.

I made a bracket that sandwiches between the license plate and the license plate bracket, but I'm open to suggestions on other options. I'd like to see the photos of the signals mounted on the tops of the shocks, and the wiring that goes with that.

Here you go. I ran the wires in shrink wrap along the main wiring harness to the headlight bucket. I bought an after-market handlebar switch that needed only slight modification.

Here are the brackets:

You're welcome. Let me know if you need anything more. When you're done with your signals, I'd like to know how it turned out.

Seadog,

I made brackets yesterday and today. Photos below. Started with raw 4130 steel - wanted good strength where it bears on the narrow shoulder on the shock stud. Man - is that stuff hard to polish!!

You sure are right about the wiring being easier this way - thanks a million for the idea!!

When it's time for final install, I'll add heat shrink (and maybe caulk) to seal where the wires enter the taillight assembly.

Phil
