Frame Tear Down

Post by bweed2112 » Mon Mar 21, 2016 3:01 pm

Hi all,
I am in the process of cleaning up my old 67 Scrambler.
Need to take everything off the frame to get it powder coated.
Currently stuck at taking the front forks, handle bars, ect. off the front.
I know the handlebars themselves can come off really easy, but can't see how the rest come off.
Anybody know how this is accomplished?

Once you have removed the handlebars, undo all of the fasteners you can see on the alloy top clamp and work from there......

From the diagram all I can see are the 4 bolts for taking the handlebars off (41), the 2 bolts for each strut (35), and the main nut(27).
Am I missing any?

That's wher you start. After that there is another nut on the stem underneath the top triple clamp.

Try searching for a repair manual. There are some online to download.

Make sure you put something under the tree so all the ball bearings don't bounce/roll all over the shop when you separate the stem!
