What size car?

Do you have any experience with vehicle rental?
is it possible to rent a car then change to a van for a few days at another depot and return for the original car to complete the hire deal.

I have rented both cars and trucks in the past, both one way and local.
You can also rent various size trailers and hitches.
It's a pretty competitive business, so it pays to do some shopping for deals.
The newer compact vans are fairly comfortable and fuel efficient relatively speaking, and might bsst fit your trip.
I have a ford escape and would not try to haul my dream it it.

When I was flipping bikes to pay my way through college, I would simply roll them backwards into the sliding side door of my VW van and leave the front wheel hanging out the side! With a red rag tied to the wheel there were never any problems with the cops -- and I hauled a lot of bikes that way!
If it's too tall for a van, just lean it over on its side on some old tires and blankets.

Those were the days....

Thanks Nick, yes leaning over or other positions is not a problem as the bike is not concours I just need to know what vehicle will take the bike and allow us to tour round for the remainder of the time.
