Dream key

Post by stratone » Sat Nov 28, 2015 10:42 pm

Okay, I've bought two keys for my 65 CA-78, one will go in but not turn, the other one doesn't go in. No. T6346, any ideas or help. I realize they had a few different cuts for that number. I'm having a hard time getting a clear pic right now but will try to post some clear ones....D

The one that doesn't go in probably doesn't have the correct grooves in it.

The one that goes in and does not turn- if the key number matches the number stamped on the ignition it should turn. It could be that you have some pins that re sticking inside the lock preventing it from turning. Spray some sort of lubrication in there to help those pins move free.

Thanks Kevin, but no go. I don't want to force it. I did notice on Flea-bay another key with the same no., same groove pattern, but different profile. For 7$, free shipping I think I'll chance it

I purchased a key on eBay a few months ago by lock number and found that it fit into the lock, but wouldn't turn. The seller, who had was very helpful, did quite a bit of research to find the correct blank and cut a new key for me. He told me that although the correct blank series was one of those listed for that model year, he had not actually seen it used in his 25 years of experience. The key cost $12.49. I can give you the seller's name if you wish; I'm sure he could help you.

His eBay seller name is rigentinc. It just dawned on me that you don't have any working key at all; I had one working key and was buying a spare. Still, it's worth contacting him. I found him to be honest and very helpful.
