Squealing noise around stator and slow return to idlesI had to do just a little bit of fiddling with the rotor bolt to "pull" the chain a litttle from the crank sprocket to match the cam sprocket, but wasn't difficult at all.
Ok, so after rotating the engine 360 a few times, after remains lined up. The "spring loadedness" I was looking for at T actually came when the points cam was pointed down, and something tells me "that makes sense, I've seen this before" but I can't explain why.
Maybe I can explain.
To setup the cam to the crank timing is done like you understand. However to set the cams you must rotate the crank so the points cam has the line down. ...................lm

Just learned that my front forks are from a previous year model. Never paid much attention to them other than the inspection sicker that expired 43 years ago (this guys an outlaw!).
Unfortunately they are way overdue for a rebuild and apparently I have to build a tool for that -_-
Never have I ever heard sweeter sounds from anything else. I'm confident the donor Pistons and crankshaft were worth it. It's a new bike!
