I see BIG pistons in the pics...........that will give you increased compression. I've had good success when starting a rebuilt motor to hold the throttle partly open for the first 30-seconds or more. It helps to set the rings. With a performance cam don't try to get the idle too low.........its hard on the valve-train.

Nice engine building ROOM.

The pistons are probably at the link I attached the other day. The pistons were just one size larger as far as I remember, I bought the complete assembly with the barrels on ebay. I don`t think that would make a difference.
At the weekend I managed to take out one of the cams leving the engine intact and fix the leaking. For some reason the were not in the correct position when I assembled them together for the first time. I compared the left cam to another one that I have in stock and there was no difference. So either these are not race cams or both are. There are some letters on them too (l,m), any idea what these stand for?

Great pictures but I find it hard to tell. These are both race cams. Left is a Honda CYB cam and right is a Megacycle. You can just see on the Megacycle where it has been welded up on a standard cam 'blank'.
