Squealing noise around stator and slow return to idles
That's what I wondered about.
I recommend you compare the original against your feeler and see what was there with it. ................lm
The original top and second ring were both .026 in or .65mm, as measured yesterday afternoon in the same manner and with the same cylinder. With the old set up, I didn't experience anything out of the ordinary from a 50 year old bike.
OK.
I'll recommend you go with what TIM sold you as for the rings. Question. How do the new pistons MIC at the top and bottom?. ...............lm
Ok, if im reading correctly, and after sitting down in front of the Honda repair manual, my notes, a pen, and no beverage, I've done some learnings:
According to Honda, my CB77 with a standard bore top ring should have a maximum .4mm ring gap with a repairing limit of .65mm. .4 + .65= 1.05mm gap before I have to replace. My top rings are .60mm and .65mm, so Im good. According to Honda, my CB77 with a standard bore second ring should have a maximum .4mm ring gap with a repairing limit of .65mm. .4 + .65= 1.05mm gap before I have to replace. My second rings are .65mm and .65mm, so Im good again. According to Honda, my CB77 with a standard bore oil rings should have a maximum .4mm ring gap with a repairing limit of .8mm. .3 + .8= 1.10mm gap before I have to replace. My oil rings are .65mm and .70mm so Im good again'er. BAM!!!! Mind.... Blown.... Please correct me if I've misinterpreted the ancient Honda scrolls.
I'm a Sailor, and we use ALOT of acronyms, but I never heard of MIC. (measure in comparison???)
