Speedo needle broke!!!

Post by ericmanuel » Sat Nov 07, 2015 1:39 pm

Do know how it happened but the speedo needle broke off. Any ideas on if this can be repaired or just replaced.

Eric

I cannot see you picture. Speedos can be opened up for replacing the needle or any other parts. Was it jumping around befor it broke?

It was working perfectly. I was running an errand and came home. Went to go back out and noticed it was broken.

Is there a teardown instruction somewhere?

Thanks in advance for your here.

Eric

There have been a number of posts here on strip down and repair. Alternatively there is a company in Sandiego that repair Honda speedos.

The hardest part is removing the bezel which must be carefully prised up using successively larger screwdrivers. After that it is pretty straightforward. What bike do you have?

Broke Speedo

Post by hondadreamca77 » Tue Nov 24, 2015 12:05 pm

My CA77 speedo needle did the same thing. It was caused by the speedo cable nut coming loose where it attaches to bottom of speedo.

I took it all apart, replaced the needle with a needle off an old pressure gauge and also lubed the odometer gears while I had it apart.

Doesn't look factory but will do for now till I find a OEM part.
