Going on five years, still works great...you'll want a battery tender to go with it, I usually just run it when I know I'll be riding next day rather than leaving it hooked up all the time.

The connections tend to loosen up so I've learned to carry my lucky 10x14 wrench (to remove seat) and appropriate allen wrench in hip pocket.

Good going on starter repair, with no kickstarter you need it to be reliable.

Many thanks for the recommendation -- I ordered one of those batteries on Friday, so hopefully I'll be back riding by next weekend!

Haven't posted in a while, as quite honestly I haven't had much time to ride lately. Combine that with the recent repair (battery and a new starter!), and before you know it a whole month went by without a ride.

So we made an effort to change that Saturday -- I organized a Halloween morning ride, and seven of us braved the morning chill. The things we must do in the name of breakfast!

I think I ended up only doing about 120 miles total, but it felt good to be back on the bike. I must admit that I was a bit of a naughty boy on the way home. I managed to hit 'the ton' on the bike, and though it seemed like the bike had a bit more to give, I didn't chance it. The ton was enough for me, and the bike seemed to reach it quite handily.

Hopefully there will be a few more rides before the end of the year!

The Superhawk is still looking wonderful. The "Goldie" mufflers look better than the originals. I was almost tempted to put some back on my '61 bike..... :-)

Graham, those are probably my favourite part of the bike (though my friends who have to ride behind me might say otherwise!). They give a raucous bark, particularly on the overrun, and if ever there was an embodiment of the term 'the mouse that roared', this bike with those pipes is it.

My only disappointment is that Norman Hyde discontinued these pipes some years ago, so if I ever had to replace them, I'd have to look to another manufacturer, like Armours.
