Under what conditions does the squeak occur? Is it continuous or cyclic?

What condition is the starter clutch in? Rollers? Springs? Any signs of damage?

Starter?

Main bearings?

Post pictures.......

Pulled rotor, attempted to tighten screws but they went no where, shaved sharp edges, and squeal or "squeak" still exists. Can't really spot where the sound is coming from, but it doesn't sound like the rotor. It sounds the same on both sides of engine. I'll adjust the cam chain and try again

G, sorry for the late response. I wanted nothing to do with the bike for the past week.

The "squeal" is continuous, maybe a failing bearing in the bottom end or something. The camshaft has new bearings as of 20 miles and 1 year ago. A few weeks ago I heard it slightly, but it didn't affect the idle/throttle. Last week it's pretty loud and I can't keep the bike idling.

I don't think it's the back of the stator rotor unless it absolutely must be perfectly smooth and leveled. I will get some pictures and a link to a YouTube video with the squeal today.

I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

Here you go G, a video is so much better than me trying to describe this issue...

Have you checked for an exhaust leak? to my ears it sounds like it is in time with engine firing.

I didn't check for exhaust leaks. Maybe where the pipe meets the head? I'll google it and find out. Thanks for the tip, I would've never thought of that. I immediately think there's something wrong in the head like a dry bearing.

malcolmgb, Sure as shit, when i pulled the pipe off the head, i had 2 copper seals in the left exhaust port and 1 seal in the right port. Also, my right cylinder spark plug was glowing, and upon closer observation, it was broken!

Fixed all of that and NOW THERE ARE 2 SQUEAKS! Still sounding like its coming from the head. put my foot on just about every part of the engine and exhaust seeing if the squeak would stop, with no success.

If i could get the bike to ride straight without being on it, I'd let it run me over.

Update:

Drained the 10w-40 to swap for sae 30 and there were fine metal shavings in the pan. From beginning to end every once in a while it looked like silver spray paint.

Time to drop the engine, I suppose.
