SERVICE BULLETIN, CL77 #5 @ 5/25/67.
The battery interference with the seat started when HONDA changed the Battery Rubber Mat.
CL72-1008851 and CL77-1015985 were the first to receive a change of battery items and because the mat raised the top of the battery HONDA had the shops Hammer Down (or cut away) the front mount area.
"ALL CL77'S ABOVE FRAME NUMBER 1050854 WILL HAVE THE MOD ALREADY INSTALLED WHEN DELIVERED TO YOU".
Some bikes issued before this time HONDA had the shop replace parts to the new design and that is a reason you will see that mod on some of the early seats but not all. ..................LM

Nice rear fender..............that aftermarket front unit looks good. The blade could be blasted and painted. I acquired a half-dozen of those BECK units several years ago..........Sold most but I think I have one left. I like the original chainguard.

So.........the new seat means you expect to ride the bike more often???

In order to extend CL77 battery life, there is now available a revised version battery kit; Hondamatic Code #08313 (the Hondamatic Code ia the same as that for the original battery kit, however, several of the components have been changed.

Thats a nice motorcycle trailer you've got there Dick. I had a great visit with John, and Eric, and Jim today. The Rune is gone.

I wonder what he got for the Rune, I saw it in the crate out back on the pallet racks back in '09. John must be damn close to 80 yrs old isn't he?

That trailer is okay, no suspension and bounces like hell empty. Whoever built it put all three rails inline so it's either haul one in the center rail or 2 on the outside rails. Trailer was bought from "The Sandy Bandit" by my neighbor back in '63 and they used it once. His son gave it to me about 10yrs ago.

Made it out to the swapmeet today and found a few bits, nos .75 CB72 pistons and rings and some other nos bits.

Still trying to get back to working on the seat!!!!

I'm not the only one who has trouble sticking to one project at a time?
John is about 80 now. He got me started with the old Hondas by convincing me I was capable of swapping out the main bearings on my CA95. I enjoyed it so much that when I was done I wanted to start another.
I read the specs on the Rune. Something like 800 pounds and 1800 CC's. I read that they cost about 25,000.00 new and cost Honda 100,000.00 a piece to build. I don't know if I believe that.
We stopped by the Swapmeet on our way to Chehalis at about 9 and people were just setting up. We couldnt stay. Next year we'll hit chehalis first then Portland about noon if they are on the same day. Live and learn.
