Starter chain specs ?

Post by DianneB » Mon Sep 14, 2015 4:55 pm

Does anyone have the details for the starter chain? I presume it is a standard Metric size.

The starter chain on my '67 Dream is sooooo loose it tries to climb the starter sprocket and makes a horrible noise! I have no inclination to pay $50US for a new chain when it is likely a standard roller chain.

(If I can't find the right chain, I will make a tensioner myself!)

Thanks.

Dianne

These guys are often at shows in the UK and wil make chains up from bulk.

Other people on here have put some washers under the starter motor screws to space the motor out a little and take up some slack.
