Crankcase assembly

Post by R100 » Fri Sep 04, 2015 3:45 pm

Is it necessary to have the starter clutch in the big seal on the crankshaft end when assembling the crankcase halves, or is just making the seal square to the cases, with the tab located, good enough?

Thanks LM.
I have done this on different engines and I usually leave the outside perimeter of the seals dry so they don't squirm out of place when bolting it up.
Would that be correct for a CB engine?

I install them dry on the outer contact area and with oil/white grease on the inner contact area. ...................lm

The cam chain roller guide that bolts to the upper crankcase between the cylinders.
The spindle has a small notch on each side of the roller.
Is that to catch oil? Does it face up or down?
