Harbor Freight Blast Cabinet Gun Question

Post by Steverino » Wed Sep 02, 2015 7:18 pm

I finally fired up my Blast Cabinet today. It turned out to be quite a project. I installed a large compressor and ran steel pipe with water traps all through my shop.
The gun blasted like crazy for about 15 seconds then it stopped delivering media. After trying raising and lower pressure and a bunch of other things I decided to see how much suction there was at the syphon tube. I put my finger over the end of the tube and pulled the trigger on the gun. Instead of suction I am getting pressure coming out of the tube. I figure there are so many of the HF blast cabinets out there that someone has run in to this before. Help?
Thank You
Steve

Is the tip clogged. Blow back through the gun and make sure its clear. Moisture can be an issue and can cause the media to clump and clog depending on what your using. In addition to adjusting inlet air pressure you may try to orifice the suction tube somehow to limit or slow the intake of the media. I have not seen the HF one but this is what ive had issues with what I have used. I know you said you have drops but there is still moisture in the air with no dryer.

Thanks Goodysnap
I found that by changing to the largest tip the syphon returned to vacuum and it's working pretty well now. Way quicker than my old wire brush and sand paper method. Especially the hard to reach areas.
