Got the oil seal re-installed yesterday and fixed the signal lamp switch. My Emgo mufflers came in yesterday so I got them mounted today.

Sounds nice! Starts not bad, runs good. I need to throw a pillow on the rear fender and take it for a ride!

Since the key kept falling out of the ignition switch in every position, I decided to install a temporary "universal" switch until I get the original combination switch repaired or replaced.

I swiped the wiring from the original switch and took the red wire form the battery to the BAT terminal on the new switch. I bridged the Pink and Yellow wire (alternator boost) in a pigtail. All the other wires were connected together and connected to the IGN terminal on the new switch. This gives the equivalent of the "Night" position on the original switch.

After installing the temporary switch, I decided to take the tumbler apart on the original switch and see if there was anything I could do. NOT! Some ***(insert expletives here!)*** GUTTED the original switch and all the pins are gone. No wonder the key falls out! Now I need to find a locksmith who can install new pins to match the existing key.

I HATE hacks! If a person doesn't know what they are doing, I wish they would find someone who does instead of making a #### mess of things!

This isn't so bad. I have a local locksmith who has done similar work. This is also an opportunity to change your steering lock to match.

Don't know WTF is going on with the Dream!!?? It was running fine on Monday. Put the mufflers on on Wednesday and it ran fine. Went out yesterday to get it ready for the antique show tomorrow and the GDFT WOULDN'T START! It didn't even make a real attempt - just a little tease now an then.

What the he!! could happen in 48 hours?????

Checked fuel flow from the petcock - sufficient. Checked fuel in the float bowl - sufficient. Pulled the spark plugs - clean and slightly wet. Checked for spark - it's there, but not overly strong. Maybe the timing is out? (I had to set the gap smaller than book because the cam lobes are worn so bad.)

My Probe electronic ignition came in so I decided to switch to the Probe unit. Did that. No difference - still wont fire up (but the spark is a lot stronger).

No idea WTF happened while sitting 48 hours that causes it not to fire up now???????????

The '62 Honda 50 is loaded up for the show tomorrow and the damned 305 can sit in the shop until it smartens up! LOL!

I know how you feel Dianne.
Once in a while I give a machine a "dope slap" (especially computers).
