Odd screw threads on these old hondas

Post by salukispeed » Fri Aug 07, 2015 11:15 am

I have been working on my 66 CA77 and just remembered that some of the thread pitches are not standard for today bikes. Seems line 3-4and 5 MM screws are the main oddballs. Does someone have good sources for these. I am not sure if JIS or ISO or something else is correct but the point plate is an example of odd ones. This bike is original and has not been hacked with English/inch yet.and I want to keep it that way.

Welcome. It would serve you well to do a little searching on this forum...just a little.

Searching on this site is a bit of an acquired skill. Nowadays I just do a google search and include the term "honda305". That usually finds stuff on here a lot quicker than the built in search facility..... :-)

thread size and pitch

newISO - oldJIS
3mm- .5 - .6
4mm- .7 - .75
5mm- .8 - .9
6mm- 1.0 - 1.0
8mm- 1.25 - 1.0
10mm- 1.5 - 1.25
12mm- 1.75 - 1.5

I wish we had these guys in UK.....

G,
I only remember the 3, 4, 5 & 12mm sizes changing pitch?

The CB72/77 (and maybe CL?) headlight bucket bolts are 10mm JIS. Also, the four 12mm rear engine mounting bolts are JIS. Please correct me if they changed in the later years. Regards, Chase

Salukispeed I don't have much success either using the forum search I do as G does with much better results. So you are not the only one.
