Rear Tail Lamp wiring

Post by CNEWIE » Tue Aug 04, 2015 5:12 pm

Need help with getting this last step done.

Tail lamp works from ignition switch
Brake lamp works from brake pedal

No tail lamp when headlight is switched on.

I can't seem to find the wire in the headlamp bucket

when tail lamp is in night running mode is it switched from the headlamp switch?
Or
Is it switched from the speedo switch??

Thanks!!

Charley

Welcome to the forum. Don't know if it makes a difference but what type of bike do you have?

Charley, Try checking at the ignition switch first. Using a test light with the alligator clip on the negative batt terminal, Turn ignition on and headlight switch on . Probe the green wire terminal (HL) and white terminal (TL) with your test light probe. It should light up on both. If it lights up on the green, but not the white, the ignition switch is likely at fault. If the green wire fails to light up, trace it back to the lighting switch in the headlight bucket. Also, do your gauge lights come on with the lighting switch? If not, there may be a problem with the lighting switch.
