The The workmanship on these mufflers are questionable at best, but they are only $214.00. I guess you get what you pay for. A rusted set of stock mufflers just sold on ebay for over $300.00. These will do for now.

apexcycle mufflers?
Check his feedback and ya can bet ya better not complain cause he'll give ya negative feedback and claim ya are picky or don't have a clue.. ......................lm
I have a set too, but like above, boguth them direct from asia at only $99.
I intend to have the chrome removed (it's flaking anyway), pull out some of the dents & tidy them up, then re-chrome. That will add them up to about $250, but they aren't too-bad, looks wise, and will do for a non-original bike.
Apex has a new style on eBay now:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQitemZ250180321111 I think I like these better than their other style. But $250??? That is crazy for what is essentially a chrome plated, slash cut tube with one bracket welded on! Here is a business opportunity for someone if these sell at $250, because I bet someone on this forum can build 'em and sell 'em for much less!
Could it be the tip has a large hole in it?. ...............................lm
Many years back I bought a CL77 for parts. It came with stock pipes and some baffles in each. When I was able to remove those baffles I found them clogged/coated/layered with carbon soot. The baffles were fro the C/CA/CB72/77 bikes and with the holes on the outside only the exhaust wasn't able to get out. The correct CL72/77 baffles have a smaller center and 2 locating areas to keep them in the pipe and not rattle. Take a good look at the inside diameter of the pipe then look at the baffle and you tell me this won't give 95% back pressure. .......................lm
Heck if you're going to spend that much money, you could get two sets of EMGO mufflers from JC Whitney. They are definitely better quality than the Apex mufflers, look right, sound right, and definitely flow better. The only thing to watch out for is the mounting channel on the backside of the muffler....they could fracture over time, but I'm sure it would be an easy fix if they did.
Or, if you wanted to be super cool, get a pair from Armours or Norman Hyde in the UK!
