I am unaware of there being three cam chain tensioner versions. I think there are just two although there may be one which was superseded as a production change very early on. (Can anyone clear up this this hole in my knowledge?) The fact that what I know as the old one 14500-268-010 has a non-zero revision number suggests that this may be the case. It also means that the hypothetical original 14500-268-000, if you have one, will fit although it may have a design problem. You will recognise the old tensioners because they have a bolt hole separation of 41 mm.

The second version 14500-268-020 came out very late (engine CL77E-1039311 and CB77E-1050999 to end of production). It is narrower and has a bolt hole separation of 32 mm and fits the die cast cylinder block.

If you are buying one I would suggest contacting the seller and ensuring that the bolt hole spacing is correct for your bike.

Many thanks to Bill Silver and his Engine Repair Guide for the details.

The early version (-000 ?) had the locking bolt and jam nut for the tensioner on the left side. Check the picture in the first post. Same bolt spacing, interchangeable with the right side version. Regards, Chase
