David Silver silencers

Today I rang D/S and David Silver himself got back to me, he agreed the hole should have been oval and not round on the front mounting so at the moment I have left it with him to sort out he say's he will get back to me.

My concern is am I the only one that has had this problem with the front hole not lining up, I see there are some 10 pairs in stock at D/S.

Has any one got original silencers (mufflers) and are the front holes oval or round ?

Genuine OEM nos Honda............oval

CMS and Overlander have round holes too. Don't know if they fit yet. Even though the CMS set bears a remarkable similarity to Silver's the baffle fits fine.

Both my Dave Silver silencers have round mounting holes at the front. I have an original stainless steel silencer which also has a round hole and an original chrome silencer ( later version with separate mounting bracket to footrest hangar attachment ) which has an oval front hole - elongated axis is horizontal. I'm out marshalling a m/c rally today but will post some pictures tomorrow.

I thank you all for your reply's, I think we can say it should be oval.

I will let you know the outcome with D/S.

I must add the communication with David Silver I have had so far is excellent ether by phone or email.

Here are some pictures of OEM silencers to compare with the Dave Silver relicas.
Top picture show LH OEM chrome silencer with oval front hole, below this is a RH OEM stainless steel silencer which has a round front hole. Next picture shows Dave Silver replicas LH top, RH bottom note both have round front holes. Next pictures show RH Dave Silver replica fitted with front and top mountings aligning ok. However! note that the Dave Silver RH silencer matches the LH around the front mounting hole and doesn't have the recess for the rear brake pedal which the RH OEM silencer has. This means that rear brake pedal movement is severely restricted with the footrest in the normal forward position. In order to use the Dave Silver RH silencer I'll therefore have to make up a spacer to move the rear brake pedal outwards or take a hammer to it to recreate the OEM recess.
