In what way do the 250cc differ from the 305cc I am not sure about the pipes i have for my project, they have the remains of a muffler on one and when I offer up the shields there is one too many brackets which can easily be removed.LOUD MOUSE wrote:How many of the 250cc pipes do you have?. ............lm

The CL72, 250cc has a left side pipe which turns quickly as it exits the head.
The CL77 has that pipe with apx. 1 inch before it turns. You have the 1967 issue pipe. ..................lm
Malcolm...........LM turned me onto that little 'bend' difference about 10-years ago. I'm not sure if all of the '65 CL72s had the different pipes from the '65-'66 CL77s..........but your '64 should have the shorter bend with 4 shield-tabs. Not many would notice the tight bend, but removing the tab is not so easy to hide (I tried)...........especially if its planned to be re-chromed. BTW......if your other pipe 'nests' with the 5-tab unit at the side frame-mount, it will NOT nest with the earlier pipes.
Maybe you will need to travel with a slightly longer suitcase........... I've shipped a few sets back on my travels. LM's description of the difference is very handy as I could never quite work out what that was. i wonder why it changed?
I've had the tail section replaced on a could of sets which were then re-chromed. Need to check the fit now..... G
