1962 CB72 SPEEDOMETER - CLOCKWISE OR COUNTER CLOCKWISE DRIVE

Post by 1941wld » Sun Jun 07, 2015 7:28 am

I have a simple question for anyone who would know. I'm restoring a 1962 CB72. Just bought an NOS speedometer off ebay and I don't want to get this wrong. The bike currently has a 1964 speedometer and the front wheel drive spins clockwise. I'm replacing it with the correct speedometer, a 1962. The 1962 spedometer face is opposite the 1964 face. So I need to know if it needs a counter clockwise drive to match the 1962 speedometer face. Seems like it would.

Thanks

Yes - you are correct. The output of the speedo drive needs to turn in the same direction as the needle on the speedo face.

If you have the 66/67 now you will need to change the drive. ............lm
