Need advice

Post by bamacl » Thu Apr 23, 2015 1:27 pm

Project completed first fire off. Cranked and would ideal for a bit and die, would not take any throttle
at all. Checked timing with strobe and was dead on. Advanced timing about halfway between marks
and it would take the gas fairly well, set on advance marks and even better. I checked while doing this
and the advance unit is working so I'm running a lot of advanced timing for bike to run. I'm thinking
maybe carb related. Checked for air leaks with spray all good. Carbs were sonic cleaned and every part
is NOS Honda except the needle jet. These checked slightly smaller than the old one's wear I would
think. Jetting is 39/130, clip 2nd groove, floats 22.5. Any thoughts? LM please jump in with some words of
wisdom. I did replace the stator and they said from Cl. Aren't all marked the same on the 305's.

Are the slides in the right way around?, the angled part should face the air cleaners. Try richening the air screw settings(fewer turns out).

Good on the slides, runs best 3/4 turn on air screw. I'm going to try raising the needle next and see if that helps. Can't understand why advancing the timing makes it take off idle throttle when the advance unit is clearly working.
