Clutch/Brake chrome thumb wheel lock spring for CL72 Help!Clutch/Brake chrome thumb wheel lock spring for CL72 Help!Am completing the restoration of a 'Pacific rim" CL that employs a chrome lock spring for the clutch/brake cable adjuster instead of the thumb wheel/sleeve assembly. Is there anyone who has a picture of the correct mounting of this spring? When the spring is mounted correctly it puts tension on the adjusting wheel. Think that I have it installed correctly but want to make certain. Have tried searching this forum for pics but no luck. Thanks!
Gorgeous restoration Bama!! Props to you on your craftsmanship; however, the picture isn't as clear as I'd like. It appears that the spring goes over the wheel rather than against it, as I have mounted it, but I can't be certain. In fact, it almost appears that the spring tang fits in a slot. My adjusting screw is solid and not slotted. Thanks for the reply!!! Will be visiting the Barber museum in May and looking forward to that experience.
Try to post tomorrow but will explaine now. The parts are : special bolt machined for spring,castle nut,cotter pin. Spring, perch with pressed in stop pin. The spring will slide straight in to line up with bolt holes, curving around stop with other end against outside of thumbwheel pointing toward center of handle bars/headlight. The stop pin keeps the spring from being pushed back out of position and aids in spring tension.

There are special bolts that go into the brake/clutch housing from the top down with castle nuts and cotter pin. The bolts go through the top small round wire hole, then housing, then the bottom small round wire hole. The other end of the wire that is looped rests on top of the wheel. The wire kind of rests on the grooves with a little pressure to keep the wheel from turning. If you need further clarification, please PM me and we can talk. Rickytic
