kickstart shaft R&R

Post by mschehen » Tue Apr 14, 2015 7:50 am

so the splines on my Kickstarter Shaft are looking a little worse for wear, how tough is it to replace the shaft? Does the engine have to come all the way apart? Any and all help would be appreciated!

Yes the engine has to come completely apart as the gearbox countershaft runs on it.

Replacement shafts are quite expensive if you can find one.

hopefully just getting the new outer part will work, the splines on it were completely gone while the ones on the shaft were a little torn up but not totally destroyed.
Thanks for the information.
Mike
