Want pristine CL77 (I know -- who doesn't!)
I keep coming across CL77 reviews that place the cruising speed at 55-60 mph. In my rosy recollection of youth, I thought I recalled the CL77 cruising mightily along at 70 mph or more. Can anyone here from recent experience estimate a practical cruising speed for the CL77? (I edited out my experiences with the Triumph Daytona out of respect for the group focus.)

Hmm ... it appears that one may achieve a CB77 gearing on a CL77 with some sprocket changes (Super Hawk top speed reports range from 90-105 mph). Would seemingly be an easy and reversible change that would have no impact on show worthiness. (I have edited this post extensively, sorry.)

Ok, it's coming back now -- my old 305 Scrambler definitely hauled ass.

CL77 Performance UpgradesI'm sorry for being such a posting fool today, but ...
I'm thinking how cool it would be to have a second 305 motor build on the side that I can swap in and out. I saw an ad for a 'Big Bore Kit' and it got me wondering what the practical limits are for souping-up the 305 motor while retaining the stock appearance and exquisite sound, and maintaining reasonable reliability. My suspicion is that the stock 305 motor is already as tricked-out as reasonably possible (10,000-rpm). http://bore-tech.com/product/358cc-big-bore-k Take a look at Vince Lupo's thread. He has a 350 kit and 5 speed gearbox in his Super Hawk.
