connecting rod sleeves?I too have a spare crankshaft all the bearings are ok it is just the two small ends that have play in them.
Resleeving would solve a lot of problems and cost, im no engineer unlike our G-Man but the rods are iron and not alloy is not iron stronger than alloy and would iron not be better for sleeving ? I too look forward to any findings.
what is to muchwhat would you consider to be to much play ?I think I might have the same issue
Re: what is to muchI can not say how much play but just to say in my experience a very light hand press of the pin through the rod and piston with no up or down or rocking of the pin once installed. Any movement and you will get a light tinkling sound on light throttle openings, well I did. After changing the crank for one with very less movement in the pin with only the slightest of play I now have only the very slightest of tinkling sound on light throttle openings and I can live with that. I know a good engineer that may elaborate more on this.
Re: what is to muchactually i thought my engine to be very noise free ..aside from the usual kind of busy sounding top end noise ..no noticeable wear on the pins ...but i do get a slight rocking with the new pins ..more than i have noticed on other rebuilds ...always something to worry about
